What Captain can change
Captain reads and edits the content of one profile: its sections and the entries inside them. It can also publish the profile. Design, photos and going live stay with you in the dashboard.
For how sections, entries and fields fit together, see Sections and entries in the OceanResume docs.
What Captain can read
Section titled “What Captain can read”- The profile’s sections in order, with every entry and its field values.
- The rules of a section: which fields it has, which are required and what each one accepts.
- The sections you could still add to the profile.
What Captain can change
Section titled “What Captain can change”Sections
- Add a section. A premium section needs a plan that includes premium sections.
- Rename a section’s heading (2 to 60 characters), or restore its default name.
- Reorder the sections.
- Show or hide a whole section on the public profile. Required sections cannot be hidden.
- Remove a section and everything in it. Required sections cannot be removed. Captain asks you first.
Entries
- Add an entry, such as one job or one degree. A new entry goes first in its section.
- Change some or all fields of an entry. Fields you did not mention keep their values.
- Reorder the entries of a section.
- Show or hide an entry, or one field of it where that field can be hidden.
- Delete an entry. Captain asks you first.
Publishing
- Publish the profile’s draft to its public page. Captain asks you first. Publishing is refused until every shown section is complete: no empty entries and all required fields filled. Captain then tells you which sections to complete.
See Confirmations for the three actions that need your approval.
What Captain cannot do
Section titled “What Captain cannot do”- Photos and files. Captain cannot upload or change a photo or a file in your profile, including one you attach to a message. Change them in the dashboard.
- Skill levels, icons and section settings. Captain can set which skills are listed. Levels, icons and a section’s settings are changed in the dashboard.
- Make a profile live. A new profile starts hidden. Going live is your switch in the dashboard, after a first publish. See Publish and go live.
- Other profiles. A chat is about one profile. To work on another, open that profile’s chat.
- Completion percentages. They are worked out from the fields that are filled in. To raise one, ask Captain to fill the empty fields.
- Anything outside sections and entries. Captain has no way to create or delete a profile, or to change templates, Folios, domains or your account.
Edits are drafts until published
Section titled “Edits are drafts until published”Captain saves each change to your draft straight away. Your public page does not change until the profile is published.
After Captain has worked on a profile, review the draft in the dashboard, then publish it yourself or ask Captain to publish.
See what Captain did
Section titled “See what Captain did”Each reply has one activity line, for example “Looked at your profile · Updated 3 entries”. Select it to see every step and whether it worked. If nothing could be changed, the line reads “Tried to change your profile” and Captain explains what went wrong.
Large requests run in batches. See Limits.
