Limits
Captain enforces a small set of limits so that one request cannot run away with your credits or your profile. This page lists them in one place.
Messages

The one-at-a-time limit covers every place you use Captain. A reply running in the dashboard blocks a new message in the Captain app until it finishes or you select Stop.
A reply keeps running if you close the page or lose your connection. Reopen the chat to pick it up. Only Stop ends it early.
Changes in one message
Section titled “Changes in one message”- Batches. Captain makes at most 8 changes per step. A request that touches more, such as rewriting twenty entries, continues in further steps within the same message.
- Steps per message. The number of steps is limited. When Captain reaches the limit it stops with “Captain reached its step limit for one message. Ask it to continue.” Send “continue” to pick up where it stopped.
- Credits per message. One message can spend up to a fixed number of credits, or your balance if that is lower. Then: “Captain ran out of credits for this message.”
- Repeated failures. An action that fails three times in one message is not tried again in that message. Captain tells you what went wrong instead.
- Reply size. If Captain tries to do too much in a single step, the reply is cut off: “Captain tried to change too much in one go and was cut off. Ask for fewer changes per message.”
Changes made before any of these stops stay in your draft.
Confirmations
Section titled “Confirmations”- Removing a section, deleting an entry and publishing each need your approval.
- Captain waits five minutes for your answer. No answer counts as no.

What Captain works on
Section titled “What Captain works on”- One profile per chat.
- Section headings are 2 to 60 characters.
- Required sections cannot be hidden or removed.
- Publishing is refused while a shown section is incomplete.
With your own model
Section titled “With your own model”- A daily limit on messages, counted per UTC day.
- 10 model checks in 10 minutes.
- No credit limit per message; the step limit still applies.
